I didn’t know a place like this exists. Imagine you are standing in front of a beautiful waterfall and thinking how cool it would be if there would be many of these around you. That is exactly what this place is about. Croatia is famous for azure water, hot weather and beaches of Dubrovnik. Not many people know, though, about “Plitvice lakes” national park right in the middle of the country.

Plitvice lakes National park
The park is a surreal mix of big and small waterfalls, turquoise-color water and amazing scenery. Located just two-hour drive from Zagreb, it’s one of the most beautiful places I’ve been to.
It takes some time to get there, sure, but if you have the option, I do suggest this day trip (or a detour in my case).
The park is very big – approximately the size of 40 football fields. It will take a whole day just walk around and see everything, so expect not seeing everything if you’re in a hurry.
For me it was a several-hour-long stop only, but I regret I didn’t stay longer there. If you have time, I very much advise putting on a comfortable pair of sneakers, taking a picnic bag with you and just wander around for a whole day.
