Sometimes it pays off to crawl out of the bed early and get outside while it is still dark. In my case the nature has prepared a gift for me (and hundreds of others, of course) – a sunrise in Barcelona. There haven’t been many moments, though, when I was actually watching how the sun rises above the horizon, but still, it counts for something spectacular.
I hurried to the seaside to get a glimpse of new day and it turned out I was not alone there. I was amazed at how alive and fit Barcelona is at this early hour. There have been so many people around riding bikes, running, skating, stand up paddling and even doing the body workout.
I love how at peace you feel at this early hour. Somehow when it’s this early and you know that even though you have lots of things to do during the day – they are quite far in time from the moment. And, of course, there is something about the calmness of the sea in the morning that brings some romance.
I’ve noticed that this is true not only when you’re traveling. Even on an ordinary day – when there are tons of things to do – if you wake up early enough to give yourself some time to be with yourself, it’s amazing how distant you can become from all the rush there is. In a way you get that feeling as if you were away from where you are.
Kind of like traveling somewhere.
